Ketahuilah, sesungguhnya seseorang hamba itu tidak diakui bersyukur kepada Allah, melainkan jika ia menggunakan nikmat-nikmat Allah itu untuk kepentingan diri sendiri dan masyarakat. Menurut Imam Al-Junaid : “Syukur ialah seseorang yang tidak menggunakan nikmat Allah untuk melakukan maksiat kepada-Nya”. Ertinya tanda bersyukur ialah menggunakan segala nikmat Allah untuk melakukan ketaatan dan memanfaatkan nikmat tersebut ke arah kebajikan, bukan menyalurkannya kepada maksiat atau kejahatan.
